#Poetry: RiP, Ali - by Stefn Sylvester Anyatonwu

I have taken a clue from the good side
of the Thriller in Manila.

I have learnt a thing
and more from the Louisville Lip.

He imbibed in me the tenacity of doggedness,
strength of character and fearless
declaration of one's beliefs.

Ali stood for what's right,
so shall I.
He fought and won,
so shall I.

Although our religion differ;
my Christ and his Mohammed,
ever at logger heads;
yet he is my brother,
in colour,
in mind,
in heart,
in flesh,
in race,
in humanity.

Ali, I may not be certain,
where you are...
Hades or paradise...
But here in my heart,
the memory of a life
well spent,
you live,
RiP Ali.
